The Pirates of Penzance featuring Mark S. CartierOUR FALL SHOW
The Pirates of Penzance
Opens Friday, Sept. 24 at 7:30pm
Preview performance on Sept. 23

Our annual fall show brings community members together with professionals in a wonderful (and often silly) bit of celebration, featuring TAM favorite Mark S. Cartier as the Major-General. As the Pirate King says: "I don't think much of our profession, but contrasted with respectability, it is comparatively honest."

A timeless favorite by Gilbert & Sullivan, The Pirates of Penzance will be directed by our very own David Greenham. Tickets are selling quickly, so be sure to reserve your seats today!

Join us for another terrific season featuring The Theater At Monmouth’s great ensemble of actors and theater artists. While we haven’t finalized the shows quite yet, the season will feature Shakespeare’s Much Ado about Nothing, the comedy that introduced two of Shakespeare’s most enjoyable and stubborn lovers, Beatrice and Benedict. Our second Shakespeare offering will be Shakespeare’s masterpiece, King Lear, starring TAM favorite Bill Van Horn in the title role. It’s been 20 years since TAM has staged the epic tale of a father’s sorrow.

To order, call 207-933-9999, or buy online. We will send you the full performance schedule once it is completed.

In addition, we’ll offer another of the great laugh-out-loud comedies that The Theater At Monmouth is known for. Our fourth play will most likely be a comic-drama that brings to life a great work of theater literature for the TAM audiences to savor. The 2011 children’s show will be a lively adaptation of a popular children’s show, most likely based on a fairy tale or folk tale, and will feature an opportunity for kids to meet the actors after the show.

The 2011 season will run from Friday, July 8th through Saturday, August 20th, and, like always, feature the only true repertory theater schedule in Maine.

In addition to great productions, the 2011 summer season will feature outstanding pre and post performance lectures and discussions, live music performed before the performances by some of the areas’ great musicians, and, of course, another version of TAM’s irreverent and delightful Black Fly Follies on Saturday, July 2nd.

In the fall of 2011, we’ll return with another great musical. The leading contender at the moment is the great Coleman, Comden and Green musical On The Twentieth Century – a crazy comic romp based on the classic play and 1934 Howard Hawkes film Twentieth Century featuring John Barrymore and Carol Lombard.
The musical, which takes place entirely on the famous Twentieth Century Limited train from Chicago to New York, made its Broadway premiere in 1978 and garnered five TONY awards and four Drama Desk awards. On The Twentieth Century will open on Friday, September 23rd and run through October 2nd.

To order your subscription, click here or call 207-933-9999. We will send you the full performance schedule once it is finalized.
